Salutations to everyone! I cannot let the year go by without wishing you
all the best of the holidays. Before the rush of the holidays take a hold
of you, I leave you with my thoughts expressed in my writer’s words.
The holidays awaken our slumbered spirits to take a break from our
routine. They are respites from the tragic news we receive daily,
glimmers of hope to mask our doubts of the future, and occasions to
celebrate life. To fully live these happy moments, I share with you this
reflection from "A Psalm of Life," by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
"In the world´s broad field of battle,
In the bivouac of Life,
Be not like dumb, driven cattle!
Be a hero in the strife!
Trust no Future, howe´er pleasant!
Let the dead Past bury its dead!
Act, - act in the living Present!
Heart within, and God o´erhead!
Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time; |
"Act in the living Present" is what I intend to do. I will be leaving for
Asia in December, and will make a special trip to Myanmar. As you have
seen from my photographs, this small country is close to my heart, and I
am deeply saddened by the recent tragedies there. I am very concerned
about my monk friends, and I plan to spend some time with them.
I greet you all: Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, & Happy Kwanzaa! May
the New Year fill you with great possibilities and inspirations. As
always, your continued support and encouragement have sustained me in
pursuing my passion in photography.
Peace and happiness,

Michael
